Willow Grove Transition Year Project
Transition Year students from across the country will be on campus to participate in the unique Willow Grove Transition Year project this week (28th of February to the 4th of March).
This project includes work experiences across the campus and an innovative Mental Health Awareness programme at the ground-breaking Adolescent Mental Health Unit, Willow Grove.
Students will organise fundraisers for our Adolescent Mental Health Services and spread the word that Mental Health Matters when they return to their schools. These activities will help foster knowledge, understanding and destigmatisation of mental illness.
St. Patrick's University Hospital recognises the importance of early recognition of mental health problems in our population. Three quarters of adults with mental health disorder experienced symptoms before the age of 25 years.
Mental health problems are common in young people although too few seek or receive help. Building awareness through this school based programme will enhance awareness of mental health issues and facilitate help seeking.
We believe that this schools based education programme will significantly benefit young people, their families, and the wider community.
Thank you to Key Capital for sponsoring this innovative youth project.
