About
St. Patrick’s Hospital Foundation fundraises on behalf of St. Patrick’s University Hospital.
It is over 250 years since Jonathan Swift, Dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and one of Ireland’s best known authors founded St. Patrick’s specifically to provide services to people suffering from mental illness. Today the need for our services is greater than ever.
One in four people in Ireland will suffer from mental illness at some point in their lives. For young people, the startling statistic is one in five.
St. Patrick’s is Ireland’s largest independent provider of mental health services. It is a not-for-profit organisation which uses the monies raised through the Foundation to provide facilities and services for the assessment, treatment and aftercare of people experiencing mental illness.
Services which have recently received support from the Foundation include:
- Adolescent Mental Health Services at the specialist Willow Grove unit
- Creative writing project for service users
- Research into treatment of mental illness
